By composting with Rust Belt Riders in 2024, Forest Hill Church, Presbyterian, diverted 1.2 Tons of food scraps from landfills. That created 5 yards of compost, and was the equivalent of 1.1 Tons of CO2e avoided. Carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2e) are a measure of the effect of different greenhouse gases (GHGs) on the climate.

Ohio landfills are significant contributors to methane emissions, and every pound of food scraps we compost helps mitigate this impact. Additionally, by turning waste into nutrient-rich compost, we’re supporting local gardens and sustainable agriculture right here in Northeast Ohio, fostering a greener and healthier community for all.
