Music at Forest Hill
Everyone has a unique and personal musical language to share, which helps make FHC a true melding of cultures and styles that reflect the artistic and progressive community of Cleveland Heights and beyond.
Traditional, Gospel, Jazz, Contemporary, Popular…AND MORE
From traditional and gospel to jazz, contemporary, popular and more, our music ends up touching virtually every listener, inspiring all to worship God…and maybe to share their musical talents as well.
Throughout the year, we are privileged to experience the music of area artists and professional musicians. We might have Elégié, a male vocal ensemble originally from Cleveland, the Cleveland Chinese Music Ensemble, and string players from the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Cleveland Orchestra.
From September through May, several musical groups support our worship. During the summer months, all of our musical groups take a much-needed vacation from rehearsing and presentations of their efforts. It is important to note that in all our musical endeavors, we support the vision of the church’s mission through the inclusion of music composed by female and black, indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) composers and artists.
Rehearsals: September – May, Thursdays from 7:30-9pm
We rehearse parts, refine balance and address worship logistics; in Sunday services we present anthems and support soloists as well as the singing of hymns. Singers do not need to read music to participate.

Our handbell choir supports Sunday music ministry with presentations of hymn arrangements and upbeat or contemplative songs each month. Ringers do need to read music.

Our children’s choir, ages 5-10, directed by our beloved choir director Julie Minder, learns to share music in “special” and fun ways.
