Beginning Genealogy Course: How to Build Your Family History and Share Your Ancestors’ Stories
Sunday, May 18, 2025
9:15 - 10:45 am

About The Event
Sunday, May 18, 9:15-10:45am. Meet in South Hall. Class facilitated by Cindy Newton.
During February, we celebrated Black History Month with a remarkable program about our family’s origin stories, along with a wonderful talk by Dr. Regennia Williams on preserving our oral history and how important it is to share that with our descendants.
In an effort to explore this further and to learn how to research our ancestors, we will be conducting a series of beginning genealogy classes. This is the first step to gaining knowledge about their lives and then passing their stories on to the next generation. Who were they, where did they come from, where did they live, what did they do for work, who were their children, what were their beliefs?
FHC member Cindy Newton, who has extensive experience as a family researcher and as a member of several genealogical societies, will be conducting the classes.
Please fill out the Breeze form and Cindy will reach out to you with research forms to complete before the first class.
