SUMMARY:Zoom with Christy Lafferty in Nicaragua
DESCRIPTION:Please join us to hear Christy Lafferty on Zoom from Nicaragua on Sunday\, November 24\, in South Hall following the worship service. \nChristy\, daughter of Scott and Sue\, serves in Nicaragua as a part of AMOS Health and Hope. AMOS uses an empowering approach\, following Christ’s example of listening to and healing the most vulnerable populations. AMOS engages communities as full partners by training local leaders as community health promoters and providing preventive and curative health services to rural communities with barriers to health care. Christy facilitates short-term mission opportunities\, engages churches as partners in long-term ministry and shares stories of lives being saved and transformed in Nicaragua. Her work received a Community Grant from FHC this year. Understanding what is happening in Central and South America helps us to understand what is happening on our border. \nChristy described a recent mission opportunity to two small villages: \nWe were able to walk alongside community water promoters to install a total of 50 water filters for families with small children or pregnant moms in their homes. Another part of our team helped to replace doors\, latrines\, shower stalls and roofs. Two community clinics were given much needed repairs. Children filled with unending energy and joy participated in talks on good hygiene for their hands and teeth. \nYou won’t want to miss this!
